Randy Fine To JD Vance: Study Some History

Congressman Randy Fine criticized JD Vance over remarks about Israel’s founding, saying the Jewish state was built through Jewish sacrifice, not created by America

Randy Fine JD Vance criticism intensified after the Jewish-American Republican congressman said the U.S. vice president should “go study some history” over remarks about Israel’s founding.

Fine rejected Vance’s claim that America created Israel.

“I think JD Vance needs to go study some history,” Fine said. “He said America created Israel, and that is simply not true. In my view, his remarks were extraordinarily dismissive and disgraceful.”

The criticism touches a central Jewish point. Deuteronomy teaches, “Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations” (Deuteronomy 32:7). For Israel, history is not a slogan. It is memory, sacrifice, and national rebirth.

Fine also criticized Vance last week over similar comments.

At the time, Fine called Vance’s remarks “completely inappropriate” and “disgusting.” He argued that the United States did not create Israel and supports it financially only to a limited extent.

Instead, Fine said the Jewish people built Israel through sacrifice after the Holocaust.

“It was created through the blood, sweat, and tears of the Jewish people who emerged from the Holocaust,” he said.

Israel’s Founding And Jewish Sacrifice

Fine also challenged Vance’s reading of U.S.-Israel history.

According to Fine, Washington did not back Israel during its founding period. In addition, he said the United States imposed an arms embargo at times.

Fine said Vance “would be wise to go back and study his history.”

His comments come as Vance’s Israel-related remarks continue drawing attention. As covered earlier in “JD Vance: Israel Staying In Lebanon Over Hezbollah Threat,” Vance said Israel has no territorial intentions in southern Lebanon. However, he also said Israel remains concerned about Hezbollah fighters near its border.

A Different Israel Debate

Fine’s latest criticism focused on a separate issue: Israel’s independence and the Jewish people’s role in securing their own state.

For pro-Israel voices, that distinction matters. America has been a vital ally. However, another nation did not hand the Jewish state to the Jewish people.

Jews returned to their ancestral homeland, fought to survive, and built a sovereign country.
