Iran announced Tuesday morning that indirect negotiations with the United States will take place this coming Saturday in Oman. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an official statement: “This is both an opportunity and a test—the ball is in America’s court.”

According to Iranian media reports, Araghchi will lead Tehran’s delegation, while President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, will represent Washington. The discussions are expected to focus on regional security issues, with Iran’s nuclear program at the top of the agenda.

U.S.–Israel Coordination Remains Strong

The announcement comes just hours after a high-level meeting at the White House between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump. A senior member of Netanyahu’s delegation stated, “Coordination with the Americans is complete. Having a unified message is always important—but in moments like these, it’s critical. We’re working to bring as many hostages home as possible, and this presents a major diplomatic opportunity.”

During a joint press statement, President Trump said, “We’ve found some solutions to a few issues—and we’ll keep working on them.” He reaffirmed his support for Israel, adding, “I’m the best president Israel has ever had.” On the topic of Iran talks, he acknowledged the upcoming discussions and simply said, “We’ll see how it goes.”

Hope for Hostage Release

Netanyahu praised Trump’s leadership and commitment: “You follow through on what you say. You’re a true hero in our lives.” The two leaders also discussed trade issues, tariffs, and the status of hostages held abroad. Trump emphasized, “We’re working hard to bring them all home—that’s what Israel wants more than anything in the world.”

Touching on Gaza, Trump remarked: “You know how I feel about Gaza—it’s prime real estate. We’d love to be involved in that… If you relocate the Palestinians to other countries, you could turn Gaza into a place where people don’t die every day.”
