Israeli physicist Avi Loeb has been appointed to lead a Trump administration scientific advisory council examining unidentified anomalous phenomena, commonly known as UFOs.
According to the Associated Press, Loeb will lead a team of outside scientists studying the national security risks connected to unexplained aerial sightings.
The team has requested classified videos and documents from the Pentagon as part of the review. Loeb told AP he plans to bring a scientific and skeptical approach to the work.
The Tanakh says, “Lift up your eyes on high, and see who created these.” That verse from Isaiah speaks to wonder, but also to discipline. Looking upward should not replace truth. It should demand it.
Avi Loeb And The UAP Council
Loeb was born in 1962 and grew up in Moshav Beit Hanan in Israel.
He joined Israel’s elite Talpiot military excellence program, then completed his academic training at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Harvard’s public profile says he received his doctorate in physics at age 24.
He later moved into American academia and became one of Harvard’s best-known astrophysicists. He served as chair of Harvard’s astronomy department from 2011 to 2020.
Loeb has published extensively in astrophysics and cosmology. His work has focused on black holes, early galaxies, interstellar objects, and the search for possible technological signatures beyond Earth.
Science, Skepticism And ‘Oumuamua
Loeb became a global public figure after the 2017 discovery of ‘Oumuamua, the first known interstellar object detected passing through our solar system.
Many scientists treated it as a natural object. However, Loeb argued that its unusual behavior justified considering another possibility: artificial technology from an advanced extraterrestrial civilization.
He later founded the Galileo Project at Harvard. The project describes its mission as a systematic scientific search for physical evidence of objects or technologies that may originate beyond Earth.
Loeb’s views remain controversial inside parts of the scientific world. Still, his appointment places an Israeli-born scientist at the center of one of America’s most unusual government transparency efforts.
Trump, Israel And The Search For Truth
The appointment also reflects Trump’s willingness to place unconventional figures in high-profile roles.
That point also connects to “5 Facts Interesting Facts You May Not Know About Trump.” The article highlights Trump’s public image, personal habits, entertainment career, and historic visit to the Western Wall.
For many Israelis, that Western Wall visit remains a defining symbol. It showed respect for Jerusalem, Jewish history, and the bond between America and Israel.
The United States and Israel also share a covenantal understanding before God. Both nations, at their best, see liberty as a moral calling, not only a political system.
That shared belief includes faith in divine promise, the dignity of human life, and the duty to pursue truth with courage.
For Israel, that duty includes the Jewish return to the land, the defense of Jewish life, and the pursuit of knowledge rooted in faith and responsibility. For America, it includes the belief that freedom, discovery, and human dignity come from God.
Loeb’s new role therefore carries meaning beyond UFO headlines. It shows an Israeli mind helping America examine mystery through evidence, skepticism, and national seriousness.
