Slovenia’s Pro-Israel Turn: Country Set to Become One of Israel’s Best Friends in Europe

An Israeli source told N12 that Slovenia is set to become one of Israel’s best friends in Europe under Prime Minister Janez Janša, with renewed flights, a new embassy, and a warmer approach toward Israelis

Slovenia Turns Pro-Israel

Slovenia Israel ties may be entering a new phase after Janez Janša, described as a clear friend of Israel, entered office as prime minister.

“The next hot destination for Israelis,” the source said, pointing to what they described as a major political and diplomatic change.

According to the source, Slovenia’s new government has already taken several pro-Israel steps. It removed the Palestinian flag that had been hanging on a city hall building, worked to renew the license for flights from Tel Aviv to Ljubljana, and announced the opening of an Israeli embassy.

“This is significant news,” the source told N12.

A Friend in Europe

The move matters because Israel has faced growing hostility in parts of Europe since the war began.

In that context, a European government openly moving toward Israel sends a clear message. It shows that Israel still has allies willing to stand with the Jewish state, build ties, and welcome Israelis.

According to the Israeli source, Slovenia is not only changing politically. It also remains welcoming toward Israeli tourists.

“The locals do not get involved in this,” the source said. “They welcome Israelis with warmth, love and a friendly attitude, regardless of which government is in power.”

The source also described Slovenia as “a stunningly beautiful country, quiet, pleasant and safe.”

For Israelis, that combination matters: friendship, safety, direct flights, and a government that sees Israel as a partner rather than a problem.

At a time when some countries try to isolate Israel, Slovenia appears to be moving in the opposite direction.
