Mike Huckabee Israel remarks drew attention at a Ministry of Heritage conference, where the U.S. Ambassador to Israel spoke about the deep bond between America and the Jewish state.
Speaking against the backdrop of tensions with Trump, Huckabee said his role is not only diplomatic. He said it also includes explaining Israel’s importance to the United States.
America And Israel
“I am the U.S. ambassador to Israel,” Huckabee said. “That means I represent U.S. interests in Israel, but also explain the importance of Israel in the U.S.”
He then placed the relationship between the two countries in historical and spiritual terms.
“Israel is the basis for the establishment of the U.S.,” Huckabee said. “Without Israel, America would not have been founded.”
For many Israelis and Americans, that message goes beyond diplomacy. It reflects the biblical, moral, and historical foundations that shaped America’s view of liberty, faith, and national purpose.

Ancient Roots
Huckabee also contrasted America’s young national history with Israel’s ancient story.
“America is 250 years old, and that is very exciting for us,” he said. “But next to you, we are young. You have roots that are 3,700 years old.”
The remark highlighted a central point in Israel’s national story. The Jewish people are not newcomers to their homeland. Their connection to the Land of Israel reaches back thousands of years through faith, language, memory, law, and return.
A Shared Foundation
Huckabee’s comments come at a time when the U.S.-Israel alliance remains under intense pressure from hostile regimes, anti-Israel activists, and rising antisemitism.
His message was clear: America’s bond with Israel is not only strategic. It is rooted in the values that shaped both nations.
Israel stands as the ancient homeland of the Jewish people. America, in Huckabee’s framing, drew from that biblical foundation when it built its own national identity.
That is why the alliance remains so significant. It is not only about policy. It is about shared history, shared values, and a shared fight for truth.
