New Trade Corridor
Turkey may be left out of a major new regional trade route.
Journalist Tuvia Yagelnik reported that Israel and the European OECD will begin an in-depth study examining the possibility of creating a land corridor connecting India to Europe.
The proposed route would pass through the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Israel.
If advanced, the corridor could become a major geopolitical and economic development. It would connect India with Europe through the Middle East and place Israel at the center of a new trade network linking Asia, the Arab world, and the West.
Turkey Left Out
The report also carries another major message: Turkey is not part of the route currently under review.

For years, Turkey has tried to promote alternative trade routes that bypass Israel. Ankara has pushed to position itself as a bridge between East and West, using its geography to strengthen its regional influence.
However, this proposal points in a different direction.
Instead of passing through Turkey, the route under examination would move through Gulf states, Jordan, and Israel. That would make the Jewish state a key link in the connection between India and Europe.
Beyond Trade
The potential corridor also connects to the wider question of normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
A route that passes through Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Israel would require practical regional cooperation. Therefore, even an economic corridor could carry diplomatic significance.
That is the deeper story.
Israel’s enemies have long tried to isolate it from the region. Yet this proposal shows the opposite trend: Israel is becoming harder to bypass.
From security to energy to trade, the Jewish state is increasingly central to the future of the Middle East.
