Emily Damari, abducted during the brutal Hamas attacks on October 7 at Kfar Aza, was released this past Sunday as part of the first phase of a ceasefire agreement. A passionate fan of Maccabi Tel Aviv and English soccer club, Tottenham Hotspur, Emily has expressed deep gratitude to the Tottenham community for their unwavering support throughout her captivity.

“Thank You for Bringing Emily Home”

Upon Emily’s return, her mother took to social media to thank Tottenham fans for their global efforts in raising awareness of her daughter’s situation and that of other hostages.

Thank you to everyone in the UK and around the world who supported the campaign to bring Emily home, and for all your messages here on X. You are amazing and we love you all 🤟

Touching Support from Tottenham Hotspur

During Emily’s captivity, Tottenham fans made extraordinary efforts to raise awareness, including releasing 3,000 yellow balloons during their derby match against Arsenal, calling for the release of Emily and other hostages. Emily’s mother shared that these actions deeply touched her daughter, saying, “We can’t wait to join you at a game again. Let’s continue this fight for the remaining hostages.”

I told Emily about all the @SpursOfficial fans who released yellow balloons and created a “She’s one of our own” chant for her. She is so touched and we can’t wait to join you again for a match 🤟

A Global Gesture of Solidarity

Max Redford, a prominent fan activist who led efforts to support Damari, revealed that upon her return, Emily received a Tottenham scarf along with numerous messages of encouragement from fans worldwide. “She was overwhelmed to hear about the balloon initiative, the visible support in the stadium, and how the message of freeing the hostages was spread throughout Tottenham’s grounds,” Redford said.

Supporting one another during times of struggle leads to victory. Just as Tottenham fans rallied behind Emily and raised awareness for her and other hostages, the Bible teaches us the power of communal support in the face of adversity. During the battle against the Amalekites, God ensured victory for the Israelites if Moses could hold up his hands. When he grew tired, Aaron and Hur came to his aid: “When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.” – Exodus 17:12. This timeless lesson reminds us that unity and support can overcome even the greatest challenges.
