South Sudan’s Foreign Minister Dr. James Pitia Morgan visited the Western Wall and delivered a powerful message of faith, history, and support for the Jewish people.
“I was born and raised in a Christian family,” Morgan said. “Throughout our lives, we studied from the Bible the history of the Jewish people, the suffering they endured, but also their great victories.”
He added that his upbringing taught him a clear lesson about Israel’s place in God’s plan.
“We learned that God’s promise to the Jewish people is eternal,” Morgan said. “He has never abandoned you, and He continues to stand by your side to this very day.”
The Tanakh says, “The Lord will not forsake His people, nor will He abandon His inheritance” (Psalm 94:14). At the Western Wall, Morgan’s words gave that ancient promise a modern diplomatic voice.

Morgan also encouraged Israelis not to lose hope during difficult times.
“Even in moments of hardship, you must not lose hope,” he said. “You are a blessed and chosen people, and Jerusalem is the house of God.”
His words carried special meaning because they were spoken at the Western Wall, one of the most sacred places in Jewish history.
For generations, Jews prayed there for return, redemption, and the rebuilding of national life in the Land of Israel.
Jerusalem And The Covenant

Morgan connected the story of Israel to a wider biblical memory.
“Our shared history, from the Exodus from Egypt to our own time, is a constant reminder that the Jewish people will always remain and will always prevail,” he said.
That image of Jerusalem as a living testimony also echoes “Every Gate Has a Message: Walking Jerusalem’s Old City Through the Psalms, Part 2.” That article described four Jerusalem Old City gates as living symbols of a covenant still in motion.
Morgan’s visit placed that same covenant theme before the world. Jerusalem is not only a diplomatic issue. It is the center of a promise that has shaped Jewish faith, survival, and return for thousands of years.
A Shared Faith In History
The United States and Israel also share a covenantal understanding before God. Both nations, at their best, see liberty as a moral calling, not only a political system.
That shared belief includes faith in divine promise, the dignity of human life, and the duty to stand with people who refuse to disappear.
Morgan’s message therefore speaks beyond one visit. It affirms that the Jewish people remain, Jerusalem remains, and God’s covenant with Israel remains alive.
