Slovenia’s Jerusalem embassy move marks a dramatic pro-Israel turn in Europe, only months after the country boycotted Eurovision over Israel’s participation.
Prime Minister Janez Janša announced that his government will soon move Slovenia’s embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. In addition, Slovenia recently lifted its arms embargo on Israel, reversing a policy imposed by the previous government.
The Tanakh says, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem” (Psalm 122:6). For Israel, Jerusalem is not a political slogan. It is the capital of the Jewish people, the heart of Jewish memory, and the center of national return.
Slovenia Jerusalem Embassy

Janša’s announcement signals a sharp change in Slovenia’s posture toward Israel.
Under the previous government, Slovenia became one of Europe’s most vocal critics of Israel. It recognized a Palestinian state, imposed anti-Israel measures, and joined the Eurovision boycott over Israel’s participation.
Now, however, the new government is moving in the opposite direction.
The embassy decision places Jerusalem at the center of Slovenia’s renewed relationship with Israel. It also follows the path taken by the United States under President Donald Trump, when Washington recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and moved the U.S. Embassy there.
A Pro-Israel Turn In Europe
That shift matches the wider picture described in “Slovenia’s Pro-Israel Turn: Country Set to Become One of Israel’s Best Friends in Europe.” In that article, an Israeli source told N12 that Slovenia is set to become one of Israel’s best friends in Europe under Prime Minister Janez Janša, with renewed flights, a new embassy, and a warmer approach toward Israelis.
For Israelis, the change matters. Europe has often treated Israel with suspicion while giving anti-Israel campaigns a moral vocabulary they do not deserve.
Anti-Israel activists on X reacted with frustration. One post noted that Slovenia had boycotted Eurovision over Israel’s participation, while now moving its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Shared Values And Moral Clarity
The United States and Israel share more than diplomacy. Both nations carry a covenantal understanding before God: liberty requires moral courage, sovereignty must defend human dignity, and free nations must stand against terror and antisemitism.
Slovenia’s shift does not erase Europe’s wider hostility toward Israel. However, it shows that governments can reverse course when leadership changes and moral clarity returns.
Ultimately, moving an embassy to Jerusalem is more than a technical diplomatic act. It recognizes reality, honors Jewish history, and strengthens the bond between Israel and nations willing to stand with truth.
