In a pivotal declaration during his confirmation hearing, Marco Rubio, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of State, announced plans to revoke sanctions imposed by the Biden administration on Israeli citizens in Judea and Samaria. Rubio also delivered a sharp critique of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, accusing it of targeting Israel unfairly.
Rubio affirmed the Trump administration’s unwavering support for Israel, stating, “The Trump administration will be the most pro-Israel in American history.”
During the late Wednesday night hearing, Rubio condemned the ICC’s actions, particularly its issuance of arrest warrants against senior Israeli officials. “The court has damaged its international credibility,” Rubio stated. “It is targeting a country that is not even a member of the court. This is a dangerous precedent for the U.S. and an attempt to see if non-member state leaders can be pursued.”
He further cautioned that the ICC’s overreach could eventually target U.S. leadership, which, like Israel, is not a member of the court. Rubio reiterated his steadfast support for Israel’s security measures, including during conflicts in Gaza. Rubio declared, “I hope Israel destroys every element of Hamas; they are savage animals,” holding the terrorist organization solely responsible for civilian casualties in Gaza.

Rubio’s stance underscores the shared values and strategic partnership between the United States and Israel, rooted in a commitment to justice, sovereignty, and the defense of democratic principles. These values, along with a commitment to justice, reflect our shared destiny and moral responsibility, as the Bible reminds us: “What does God require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” – Micah 6:8.
