Samy Gemayel’s Hezbollah stance came into focus as the Kataeb Party leader warned that most Lebanese no longer want to live as hostages of Hezbollah.
Gemayel, a member of the Lebanese Parliament, spoke as Lebanon faces pressure over negotiations involving Iran, the United States, Israel, and Hezbollah. According to the report, he made clear that Lebanon cannot return to a reality where Hezbollah decides the country’s future.
His message reflects a growing Lebanese demand for sovereignty. Psalm 34 teaches, “Seek peace, and pursue it.” However, peace cannot grow while an armed terrorist organization holds a country captive.
Samy Gemayel And Hezbollah
Gemayel argued that Hezbollah’s weapons remain the main obstacle to Lebanon’s recovery. He said Lebanon cannot live in peace while militias operate on its territory.
He also said most Lebanese, from all sects, do not want to remain hostages of Hezbollah. Instead, they want a state that speaks for Lebanon and protects its people.
This is not only a political statement. It is also a national demand. For Israel, the distinction matters. The war in Lebanon is not against the Lebanese people. It is against Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed terrorist organization that turned Lebanese territory into a front against Israel.
The Gemayel Family And The Kataeb Party

Samy Gemayel comes from one of Lebanon’s most prominent political families. He is the cousin of Nadim Gemayel, whose father, Bashir Gemayel, was elected president of Lebanon before his assassination in 1982.
Their grandfather, Pierre Gemayel, founded the Kataeb Party in 1936. Today, both Samy and Nadim continue to represent a Lebanese sovereignty camp that rejects foreign control over Lebanon’s future.
That point also connects to Nadim Gemayel’s recent warning. As covered earlier in “Lebanese Politician: Iran Has No Right To Speak For Lebanon,” Nadim rejected Iran’s claim to speak for Lebanon and highlighted growing resistance to Hezbollah and Tehran’s control.
A Path Toward Peace
Samy Gemayel has also supported direct negotiations with Israel if they protect Lebanon, restore stability, and serve the Lebanese state. However, he has stressed that such decisions must belong to Lebanon, not to Hezbollah or Iran.
That principle is central. A sovereign Lebanon could choose security over endless war. Ultimately, if Lebanon breaks free from Hezbollah’s grip, it could open a serious path toward stability and a different relationship with Israel.
Peace starts when states, not militias, decide the future.
