Marco Rubio publicly backed Israel, saying the fighting in the region cannot end while Iran’s proxies continue launching missiles.
The U.S. Secretary of State made the comments while addressing several regional issues, including Israel, Lebanon, Iran, and international waterways. His remarks placed the focus on Iran’s network of armed proxies, rather than separating the violence from the regime that supports it.
For Israel, that distinction matters. The Tanakh teaches, “Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it” (Psalm 34:14). Peace requires moral clarity. It also requires confronting those who use terror to block it.
Marco Rubio Backs Israel
“The process between Israel and Lebanon is separate from the process with Iran,” Rubio said.
He also addressed the issue of international waterways.
“No country can impose fees on an international waterway,” Rubio said. “I think all the countries in the region will agree with us.”
Then, Rubio tied the broader conflict directly to Iran’s proxy network.
“The fighting in the region cannot end as long as Iran’s proxies continue launching missiles,” he said.
Iran’s Proxies And Regional War

Rubio’s statement reflects a core Israeli argument. The war is not only about one border or one front. Instead, Israel faces a regional threat system backed by Iran.
That system includes armed groups that fire at Israeli civilians, threaten shipping routes, and pressure neighboring governments. Therefore, any serious discussion about ending the fighting must address the forces that keep attacking.
That point also connects to Israel’s security posture on the Lebanese border. As covered earlier in “Minister Katz: Israel Will Not Leave Lebanon Security Zone,” Defense Minister Israel Katz said the IDF remains free to act against Hezbollah threats and that Israel will not withdraw from the Lebanon security zone.
For many Israelis, Rubio’s comments also carry a clear message of U.S.-Israel alignment. America’s support matters because both countries understand the cost of allowing terror groups to dictate regional security.
Peace Requires Security
Israel has repeatedly said it seeks security, not endless war. However, security cannot exist while Iranian-backed forces continue launching missiles.
Rubio’s statement reinforces that point. Peace cannot rest on slogans while rockets keep flying. It must rest on deterrence, sovereignty, and the right of free nations to defend their people.
Ultimately, the path to regional calm begins with stopping the terror networks that Iran built and armed.
