A Strategic Shift in Defending Judea and Samaria
Israel has launched Operation Iron Wall in the Jenin Refugee Camp, signaling a significant change in the IDF’s approach to securing Judea and Samaria. Defense Minister Israel Katz, speaking from the IDF command center, described the operation as a direct response to growing terror threats in the region, many of which are linked to Iranian proxies.
Katz emphasized Israel’s commitment to dismantling terror infrastructure and preventing the establishment of an eastern front against the Jewish state. “We will not allow Iran’s tentacles or radical Sunni Islam to endanger Israeli citizens’ lives or eastern terror front against Israel. We will strike with overwhelming force until these threats are eradicated,” he declared.

Heightened Threats Demand Strong Action
Just before the IDF officially announced the operation, Katz addressed the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, highlighting escalating threats to communities in Judea, Samaria, and along the Seam Line – the armistice line until the 6-Day War in 1967. He warned, “Our enemies view this region as their last open arena for conflict, where terror and confrontations remain possible. The Iranian axis continues to fund, arm, and direct terror in this area.” Katz ordered the IDF to respond decisively to these dangers, “acting swiftly to neutralize terror and protect every community and resident.”
Iron Wall in Action: A Comprehensive Security Effort
Operation Iron Wall is a collaborative effort involving the IDF, Shin Bet, and Border Police, focusing on neutralizing terror networks and strengthening security in Judea and Samaria. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the initiative as a critical component of Israel’s broader campaign against Iran’s regional activities.
IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi characterized the operation as a pre-emptive measure aimed at thwarting attacks and safeguarding Israeli civilians. The timing is significant, following the recent agreement to release hostages, which also included the release of security prisoners to Judea and Samaria.
When the Midianites threatened Israel, God called Gideon to take decisive action and pre-emptively strike their camp to secure Israel’s safety. “During the night God said to Gideon, ‘Get up, go down against the camp, because I am going to give it into your hands.’” – Judges 7:9. In the same way, Israel must remain vigilant and prepared to strike its enemies to safeguard its people and ensure their security.
