Northern Israel Aid Package

Israel has approved a major aid package for Northern Israel. Nearly NIS 20 billion will go toward strengthening frontline communities, local authorities, security infrastructure, health care, transportation, education, tourism, and economic growth.

The plan is aimed at communities that have lived under constant threat from Lebanon and Hezbollah fire. For residents of Northern Israel, the package is not only about recovery. It is about rebuilding strength, restoring confidence, and making the region safer for the future.

A central part of the plan focuses on protection.

About NIS 6.6 billion will go toward security needs, including the construction of thousands of new reinforced safe rooms. Residents in communities located 0 to 9 kilometers from the Lebanese border will receive full subsidies to build safe rooms in ground-level homes.

The plan also includes the construction of around 1,800 new public protected shelters. Approximately 500 existing shelters will also be renovated.

Security and Resilience in Northern Israel

The government will also allocate about NIS 160 million to public security.

That includes a protected police station in Kiryat Shmona, new fire and rescue stations, and advanced technologies to detect fires in open areas.

Around NIS 1.7 billion will go toward strengthening local authorities. The funding will also support public building upgrades, economic development, and the absorption of new residents.

Tax benefits for residents of frontline communities will also increase. The change will add hundreds of shekels per month to family net income.

Health, Roads, and Jobs

The plan also includes major investment in health care and social resilience.

About NIS 670 million will go toward strengthening public medical services. That includes expanded health fund services, protected MRI and surgical equipment, faster medical and mental health responses, and incentives for specialist doctors to move to the Galilee.

Another NIS 340 million will go to welfare centers to strengthen social resilience.

Transportation will also receive a major boost. About NIS 600 million will fund strategic roads, public transportation lanes, and bike paths.

For employment and innovation, around NIS 200 million will support advanced industrial zones. The funding will also support employer grants and the examination of a new national server farm.

Keeping Young People in Northern Israel

The government also wants to keep young people in the region.

About NIS 120 million will go toward advancing a new academic institution. The plan also includes scholarships of up to NIS 10,000 per year for students.

Tourism will also receive support. Around NIS 440 million will go toward bringing visitors back to the north through coastal development, a new marina in Nahariya, expanded lodging options, and marketing grants for small businesses.

Another NIS 53 million will support culture, leisure, and community events for all ages.

Netanyahu said the investment shows the government’s commitment to the north.

“People will flock to the north. We are putting very significant money here,” he said. “A little more than NIS 13 billion today, in addition to the NIS 7 billion we already provided. That means NIS 20 billion is going to the communities of the north, and rightly so.”

Netanyahu compared the future of the north to the recovery and growth seen in southern Israel.

“When I say people will come to the north, I said the same thing about the south, and people said, ‘Fine, those are just words,’” he said. “Today, the south, which faced major security challenges, has enormous demand, growth and tremendous flourishing. That is what will happen here as well.”

For Northern Israel, the message is clear: the goal is not only to repair damage. It is to build a stronger, safer, and more resilient frontier.
