Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel will not withdraw from the Lebanon security zone, stressing that the IDF remains free to act against Hezbollah threats.
Katz said there “has not been, and there is no restriction” on IDF soldiers operating in Lebanon to remove threats.
His statement came after an attack on Israeli forces. According to Katz, the IDF responded “with great force,” thwarted a large number of Hezbollah terrorists, and struck many terror infrastructures.
The Tanakh records a clear command in a moment of danger: “Fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes” (Nehemiah 4:14). Katz’s message follows that same principle. Israel’s first duty is to protect its soldiers, citizens, homes, and northern communities.
Israel’s Red Line
“The preservation of the lives of our soldiers and citizens is the highest and absolute priority,” Katz said.
He added that Israel is maintaining all IDF achievements from the campaign in Lebanon. According to Katz, Israeli forces remain deployed in the security zone along the yellow line in Lebanon.
From there, he said, the IDF continues to operate inward against terrorists and terror infrastructures.
That point matters. A ceasefire does not mean Israel must ignore threats forming across the border. Instead, Israel is making clear that quiet will not become cover for Hezbollah’s return.
The Northern Communities

Katz said the ceasefire announced yesterday leaves the IDF in all positions inside the security zone protecting Israel’s northern communities.
For residents of the north, this is not theoretical. Their security depends on whether Hezbollah can rebuild positions, launch attacks, and threaten Israeli homes from across the border.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Katz have both made the policy clear: “Israel will not withdraw from the security zone in Lebanon.”
Security Through Strength
The message reflects a broader principle shared by Israel and the United States. Free nations preserve peace by defending their borders, confronting terror, and refusing to abandon strategic ground under pressure.
President Donald Trump has often spoken about strength as the foundation of security. Netanyahu and Katz are applying that same logic on Israel’s northern front.
Ultimately, Israel’s position is simple. It will honor security, not illusions. It will protect its people, hold its defensive line, and strike Hezbollah whenever threats emerge.
