The Israel-Lebanon framework agreement drew public support from prominent Sunni Lebanese lawmaker Fouad Makhzoumi, who called it a historic step toward peace and Lebanese sovereignty.
The United States, Israel, and Lebanon signed the official trilateral framework under American auspices. While the agreement is not full normalization, it creates a formal process for addressing the central issue behind the conflict: Hezbollah’s weapons.
Psalm 34 teaches, “Seek peace, and pursue it” (Psalm 34:14). In Lebanon, that pursuit cannot mean surrendering the state to an Iranian-backed militia. Instead, peace requires sovereignty, lawful authority, and security for civilians on both sides of the border.
Israel-Lebanon Framework

“For the first time in Lebanon’s history, Lebanon and Israel have signed an official trilateral framework,” Makhzoumi wrote.
According to Makhzoumi, the agreement marks “a historic milestone” and “a decisive step” toward a just and sustainable peace with Israel. He also said it could help resolve longstanding disputes through diplomacy.
Most importantly, Makhzoumi tied the framework to strengthening the Lebanese state. He said Lebanon must ensure the state’s exclusive right to bear arms and end Hezbollah’s weapons, along with all militia weapons.
The same sovereignty theme appeared in “Lebanese President: No One Negotiates On Lebanon’s Behalf.” In that article, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said no one can negotiate on Lebanon’s behalf, as Beirut faces pressure over Israel, Hezbollah, Hamas, and state sovereignty.
Therefore, Makhzoumi’s support points in the same direction. Lebanon cannot move toward stability while Hezbollah or any outside power claims the right to decide the country’s future.
Makhzoumi Backs U.S. Role
Makhzoumi also welcomed the role of the United States.
He described America as a reliable strategic partner and guarantor of the framework. In his view, direct U.S. participation gives the process the trust, credibility, and international guarantees it needs.
For Washington, the agreement strengthens American influence in a region where Iran has used proxies to weaken states. Meanwhile, for Lebanon, it offers a path back toward sovereignty. For Israel, it addresses the threat on the northern border without pretending Hezbollah is a normal political actor.
The United States and Israel share more than strategy. Both nations carry a covenantal understanding before God: freedom must defend life, sovereignty must serve justice, and peace cannot rest on terror.
Katz: A Strategic Blow To Iran
Defense Minister Israel Katz called the agreement a historic event and an important diplomatic and security achievement for Israel.
According to Katz, Israel is not withdrawing from Lebanon. He said Israel will maintain the security zone, including Beaufort.
However, Katz made clear that Israel will not redeploy or withdraw as long as Hezbollah remains armed across Lebanon and northern residents remain unsafe.
He also called the agreement “a strategic blow to the Iranian axis.”
“If Iran tries to attack Israel in order to prevent the implementation of the agreement, we will act against it with great force,” Katz warned.
Ultimately, the framework shows the central truth of the northern front. The conflict is not between Israel and the Lebanese people. It is between sovereign states seeking stability and an Iranian-backed terror army that has held Lebanon hostage for decades.
