Israeli forces eliminated Zaki Yusuf Mahmoud Abu Mustafa, the terrorist who took part in the abduction of former hostage Yagil Yaakov on October 7.
Abu Mustafa served as the commander of the Khan Younis Brigade in the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization. According to the IDF and Shin Bet, he infiltrated Kibbutz Nir Oz during the October 7 massacre and helped abduct Yagil into Gaza.
The Tanakh commands: “You shall purge the evil from your midst” (Deuteronomy 17:7). That verse gives language to this moment. Justice is not only memory. It is the refusal to allow those who kidnap children and massacre civilians to return to the battlefield.
October 7 At Nir Oz

Kibbutz Nir Oz became one of the symbols of October 7. Terrorists invaded the community, murdered residents, destroyed homes, and dragged civilians into Gaza.
Yagil Yaakov was only a child when terrorists abducted him from the kibbutz. The above image released by the IDF shows Abu Mustafa inside Israeli territory during the abduction.
Yagil later returned from captivity. However, the crime committed against him remains part of Israel’s national memory.
A Senior Terrorist Removed
According to Israeli reports, Abu Mustafa did not only take part in October 7. In recent months, he helped rebuild Islamic Jihad’s military capabilities in Gaza.
The IDF and Shin Bet said he also advanced attacks against Israeli troops. In addition, they said he attempted to train terrorists at Nasser Hospital while exploiting the medical facility for terrorist activity.
Israeli forces eliminated him in a precise strike in southern Gaza.
Justice And Deterrence
This is the kind of moral clarity Israel needs. Terrorists who abduct children cannot receive immunity because time has passed.
For Israel and the United States, the lesson is shared. Free nations must hunt down those who murder, kidnap, and hide behind civilians.
President Donald Trump has repeatedly argued that terror must face strength. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made the same case throughout the war.
Ultimately, Abu Mustafa’s elimination sends a simple message: October 7 terrorists will be pursued, identified, and removed.
