Houthi Somaliland threats escalated after Abdul-Malik al-Houthi warned that his movement is monitoring developments in Somaliland and would target any Israeli presence there.
The Houthi leader accused Israel of seeking control over the Gulf of Aden, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Red Sea. His statement came amid reports about deepening Israel-Somaliland security cooperation near key maritime trade routes.
The Tanakh teaches, “The horse is prepared against the day of battle, but victory is of the Lord” (Proverbs 21:31). For Israel, preparation means watching threats clearly, especially when Iranian-backed forces target strategic waterways and threaten regional stability.
Houthi Somaliland Threat
“We are closely monitoring developments in Somaliland and the activities of the Israeli enemy,” al-Houthi said.
According to him, Israel’s goal is “to take control of the Gulf of Aden and the Bab al-Mandab Strait” and to establish dominance in the Red Sea.
He also called on countries bordering the Red Sea to form a united stance against Israeli activity. Then, he warned that the Houthis would not remain passive.
“We will not stand idly by if it establishes itself in Somaliland,” al-Houthi said.
Threats Against Israel

Al-Houthi then issued a direct threat.
“At any time, we will initiate attacks against any presence of the Israeli enemy in Somaliland,” he said.
He also called on what he described as the Islamic nation to stand alongside Somalia. In addition, he repeated Houthi claims about American-Saudi aggression, occupation, and siege.
The statement reflects the Houthis’ broader posture as an Iranian-backed force operating near vital Red Sea routes. For Israel and its allies, the threat is not only local. It concerns maritime security, trade, and the ability of terror-backed actors to pressure international waterways.
Red Sea Security
The comments also follow earlier reporting on the Somaliland issue. As discussed earlier in “Somali Reports: Israeli Soldiers Deployed In Somaliland,” Somali reports claimed Israeli soldiers were deployed in Somaliland as Israel and Somaliland deepen security cooperation near key Red Sea trade routes.
Those reports have not been officially confirmed by Israel. However, al-Houthi’s response shows how seriously the Houthis view any possible Israeli foothold near the Gulf of Aden and Bab al-Mandab.
Ultimately, the statement highlights a wider strategic reality. Iran-backed forces are watching Israel’s regional partnerships, while Israel continues to seek security depth around vital trade corridors and hostile fronts.
