Security Alert
The United States has moved Israel and the West Bank to a Level 3 travel advisory, telling U.S. citizens to reconsider travel amid high tensions in the Middle East.
In a June 4 security alert, the State Department said the regional security environment “remains complex and can change quickly.”
The alert urged U.S. citizens in the Middle East to stay cautious, monitor the news, and remain ready for sudden developments.
The advisory places Israel, the West Bank, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates at Level 3: Reconsider Travel.

Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, and Yemen remain at Level 4: Do Not Travel.
Regional Tensions
The alert comes as the Middle East remains under pressure from Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, and other terror threats across the region.
For Americans in Israel, the message is not panic. It is preparation.
The State Department told U.S. citizens to know the location of the nearest shelter in the event of hostilities. It also advised them to avoid demonstrations, large gatherings, and areas with a heavy police presence.
The alert also urged Americans to follow local authorities, monitor local media, keep a low profile, and remain cautious around locations publicly associated with the United States.
Israel Remains On Alert
Israel has lived with this reality for generations.
The Jewish state faces enemies who target civilians, fire missiles at cities, and try to turn daily life into fear. Yet Israel continues to function, defend its people, and protect visitors, diplomats, and foreign citizens inside the country.
That is the larger story behind the advisory.
The region is tense because Israel’s enemies keep threatening the region. Israel remains on alert because it is given no other choice .
The U.S. also encouraged citizens to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program, known as STEP. The program connects Americans abroad with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate and helps officials contact them during an emergency.
For U.S. citizens in Israel, the message is clear: stay alert, know where to go, and follow official instructions.
