Hamas Praises Iran Agreement: A Warning Sign For Israel

Hamas publicly welcomed the announced Iran deal, reinforcing Israeli concerns that any agreement praised by a terrorist organization is unlikely to serve Israel’s security interests

Hamas praises U.S.-Iran deal at a moment when Israel must judge the agreement not only by its diplomatic language, but also by who is celebrating it.

In a public statement, Hamas said it “welcomes the announced agreement” between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States and congratulated Tehran for its conduct.

Hamas Welcomes The Deal

The statement was not vague. Hamas praised Iran’s leadership and people and thanked the regime for what it described as steadfastness in the face of pressure.

It also expressed hope that the agreement would help end what it called “Zionist aggression” in Gaza and Israeli actions in Lebanon and other fronts.

Hamas is not a neutral observer. It is a terrorist organization committed to Israel’s destruction, and it is deeply aligned with Iran’s regional camp. Therefore, when Hamas publicly welcomes an agreement, Israelis are right to ask what that deal may mean for Iran’s influence and for Israel’s freedom to defend itself.

The image underscores the broader issue. Hamas is not separate from Iran’s regional strategy. Its leaders have relied on Tehran’s support, celebrated Iranian backing, and framed the fight against Israel as part of a wider axis. That is why its praise for the agreement should not be treated as a routine political statement.

Why The Praise Matters

Hamas’s reaction offers a revealing test. Terror groups do not applaud agreements that weaken their strategic position. They support deals they believe will ease pressure on their allies, improve their political standing, or constrain Israel.

For many in Israel, and for many pro-Israel voices in the United States, that is the core issue. If a deal earns praise from Hamas, it is difficult to argue that it clearly serves Israel’s best interests. Supporters of President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have long argued that peace comes through strength, not by empowering the same axis that funds and fuels terror.

Israel Must Judge The Results

Hamas ended its statement with familiar propaganda against Israel. Yet beneath the rhetoric was a clear signal: the group believes this agreement could benefit the anti-Israel camp.

Israel and the United States should take that signal seriously. A strong agreement should weaken Iran’s terror network, not inspire congratulations from one of its most notorious proxies. When Hamas applauds, Jerusalem has every reason to be cautious.
