Faith at the Wall
Roman Gofman, Israel’s incoming Mossad chief, came to pray at the Western Wall, known in Hebrew as the Kotel, as he entered his new role.
Gofman will lead the Mossad, Israel’s foreign intelligence agency. The agency stands on the front lines against Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, and other enemies of Israel.
During the visit, Gofman placed a note between the stones of the Wall. It read: “The Eternal One of Israel will not lie.”
The moment carried deep symbolism.
Before taking command of Israel’s foreign intelligence service, Gofman went to the ancient heart of Jewish prayer. He did not begin only with strategy, intelligence, or command. Instead, he began with faith.
A Message at the Wall
The Western Wall is one of the strongest symbols of Jewish memory and continuity.
For generations, Jews prayed toward Jerusalem. Today, Israel’s soldiers, leaders, families, and visitors come to the Wall. They give thanks, ask for strength, and connect their mission to the story of the Jewish people.

Gofman’s note connected his new role to that larger story.
“The Eternal One of Israel will not lie” is more than a phrase. It is a declaration of faith in the endurance of Israel.
For a Mossad chief entering office during regional threats, the message is clear. Israel’s security depends on weapons and intelligence. However, it also depends on identity, memory, and trust in the destiny of the Jewish people.
Israel’s Eternal Mission
Gofman’s visit comes as he steps into leadership of Israel’s foreign intelligence agency.
The Mossad protects the Jewish people and the State of Israel. Its work often stays hidden, yet its purpose remains clear.
At the Western Wall, that mission met its source. A Jewish security chief stood in Jerusalem and prayed at the stones of Jewish history.
And as Gofman’s note declared: the Eternal One of Israel will not lie.
