Golden Handcuffs
Amusing turn: two of America’s most well-known antisemitic voices now fear Israel may become too independent.
Richard Spencer and Nick Fuentes have spent years campaigning against U.S. military aid to Israel. However, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s push to wean Israel off American aid, the two are now expressing concern.
During a podcast, Spencer and Fuentes warned that Israel’s move could weaken anti-Israel politicians in Washington.
They said progressive leaders in the U.S., such as Ilhan Omar, could lose their ability to threaten Israel by blocking weapons and funding.
In their view, that would remove a major source of leverage over Jerusalem.
They described American aid as “golden handcuffs.” According to them, the aid kept Israel on a short leash and limited the IDF’s freedom of action whenever Washington wanted pressure.
Israel Without the Leash
For years, anti-Israel activists demanded an end to U.S. military aid. They believed it would weaken Israel.
Now, some appear worried that the opposite could happen.

If Israel becomes less dependent on American aid, it may gain more freedom to defend itself. It may also gain more room to strike its enemies and shape policy without threats from hostile lawmakers.
Fuentes added that Israel, as a nuclear and cyber power, could grow even stronger. He also pointed to Israel’s growing regional influence in the Gulf states.
He claimed Jerusalem would position itself as a central strategic and economic crossroads. That would place Israel between major powers including the U.S., China, Russia, and India.
That is the deeper story.
Israel’s enemies wanted less U.S. aid because they thought it would make Israel weaker. Instead, they now admit it may make Israel freer.
