By a Majority Vote, Israeli Government Approves Hostage Deal
The Israeli government approved the hostage release deal late Friday night after a prolonged session extending into Shabbat. With 24 ministers supporting the decision and 8 opposing, the agreement was backed by Likud, United Torah Judaism, Shas, and The United Right, while Otzma Yehudit and HaTzionut HaDatit opposed it. A ceasefire, announced in Qatar, is set to begin at 8:30 AM tomorrow as part of the deal.
Stabbing Attack in Tel Aviv: Courage and Resilience
As reported earlier this evening, a stabbing attack occurred on Mikveh Israel Street in Tel Aviv over Shabbat. An armed civilian prevented further disaster by neutralizing a terrorist who stabbed a man in Tel Aviv, leaving the victim seriously injured but conscious. This act of bravery reflects the biblical call to defend and protect the innocent, as seen in Nehemiah 4:14: “Fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”
Missiles from Yemen Intercepted by Israeli Air Defenses, No Casualties Reported
Two missile attacks launched from Yemen toward Israel were successfully intercepted within five hours of each other. In the morning, a surface-to-surface missile was neutralized by Israel’s air defense systems, and later, sirens were activated in Eilat and Arava as a second missile was intercepted outside Israeli territory.
Residents reported hearing explosions across multiple areas, but no injuries occurred. Alerts were triggered in the Dan region, Jerusalem, the Sharon region, and the coastal plain, leading to the temporary closure of Ben Gurion Airport, which has since resumed operations. These events underscore the effectiveness of Israel’s defense systems and the nation’s resilience in the face of ongoing threats.
Hostage Deal: Prisoners and Hamas Preparations Underway
The Ministry of Justice has published a list of 735 prisoners and security detainees eligible for release under the agreement to return 33 hostages held by Hamas. The list includes senior terrorists responsible for some of the most devastating attacks in Israel’s history, including key figures in planning operations that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Israelis.
Meanwhile, Hamas has announced the deployment of its forces, including Palestinian police, throughout Gaza in preparation for the deal’s implementation. A senior Egyptian source told N12 that Israel, during recent Cairo talks, agreed to allow Palestinian Authority personnel at Gaza crossings to wear official PA uniforms as part of the arrangement. The announcement comes in preparation for implementing the hostage deal but does not specify how the deployment will proceed, given the presence of IDF forces in the area.
