In response to the October 7 attacks, the Tekuma Directorate—established to rehabilitate Gaza border communities—has partnered with the Ministry of Defense and Magen David Adom (MDA) to launch a major initiative strengthening emergency medical services in the region. This $49 million shekel project includes the deployment of 20 bulletproof ambulances funded by the Tekuma Directorate, as well as the construction of four new emergency response and dispatch stations.

Six bulletproof ambulances have already been deployed to the communities of Kfar Aza, Mefalsim, Sderot, Alumim, Re’im, and Netiv HaAsara. These ambulances are integrated into MDA’s existing network, ensuring rapid and safe responses to medical emergencies. Reinforcements to regional emergency stations further enhance the safety and preparedness of both residents and first responders.

Implementing Lessons from October 7

Yossi Shelli, Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office and Head of the Tekuma Directorate, emphasized the importance of these measures: “The acquisition of bulletproof ambulances is another step in implementing the lessons of October 7. This initiative significantly improves the medical response for residents of the Gaza border area during both routine times and emergencies, enhancing the safety of MDA teams and residents. Strengthening rescue services and rehabilitating communities in the area is our unwavering commitment.”

Commitment to Life-Saving Care

Eli Bin, Director General of Magen David Adom, highlighted the crucial role of these ambulances in protecting first responders: “MDA faces complex challenges daily, and these bulletproof ambulances enable our teams to operate safely, even under dangerous conditions. Our collaboration with the Tekuma Directorate and the Ministry of Defense, supported by friends of Israel worldwide, ensures we provide life-saving care to all residents of the region in the best possible way.”

As Israel continues to rebuild and fortify its border communities, these measures reflect a commitment to the sanctity of life and the safety of its people. As Psalms 121:7-8 reminds us: “The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” May these efforts bring peace, protection, and healing to the residents of the Gaza border region.
