Liav Kababia HY”D, 20, from Hod Hasharon, fell overnight between Thursday and Friday in battle in southern Lebanon, the IDF Spokesperson announced.
Kababia served in Battalion 52 of the 401st Armored Brigade. He fell in the same incident that killed his battalion commander, Lt. Col. Dor Gedalia Ben Simchon HY”D, and other soldiers from the unit.
The Tanakh says, “Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of His faithful ones” (Psalm 116:15). That verse gives language to a grief Israel knows too well: a young soldier, a family shattered, and a nation called to remember.
A Heavy Loss For Battalion 52

According to Israeli reports, Hezbollah struck a tank in southern Lebanon during the overnight incident. Initial reports said the attack involved a drone or anti-tank missile.
Lt. Col. Dor Ben Simchon, the commander of Battalion 52, fell alongside members of his crew. Hours later, the IDF released additional names, including Kababia’s.
For Israel, this was not only a military loss. It was a painful blow to a battalion already carrying the burden of the northern front.
The soldiers of Battalion 52 were operating in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed terror army that continues to threaten Israel’s northern communities.
The Price Of Security
Kababia was only 20 years old. His life, like the lives of so many young Israeli soldiers, stood between terror and the ordinary life Israelis are fighting to preserve.
That truth is central to both Israel and the United States. Free nations survive because young men and women stand guard, defend civilians, and confront enemies who target the innocent.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly insisted that Israel must retain its freedom to defend itself. Moments like this show why that principle is not abstract. It carries names, faces, families, and entire communities.
May Their Memories Be A Blessing
The loss of Kababia and his fellow soldiers reminds Israel of the cost of sovereignty.
A Jewish state cannot outsource its security. It must defend its borders, protect its soldiers, and strike terror before terror reaches its homes.
Liav Kababia HY”D gave his life in that mission.
May his memory be a blessing.
