Defense Minister Israel Katz: Capture of Ali Taher Ridge completes foothold in southern Lebanon security zone
According to Katz, the decision to maneuver to the ridge was made following information about Hezbollah command and control tunnels, which were used for attacks against IDF forces and the Galilee, as well as a strategic defense post over the Nabatieh area. The operation was conducted under a heavy gag order, and at its conclusion, the tunnels were cleared of terrorists.
The IDF is now working to neutralize the tunnels and establish a presence on the ridge. Katz emphasized: “Israel will not withdraw from the security zone in Lebanon until Hezbollah is disarmed throughout all of Lebanon and the threats to the residents of the Galilee are removed.”
