Prime Minister’s Office: In Lebanon talks, Netanyahu directs push to return bodies of Jewish community leaders—state martyrs kidnapped and murdered by terrorists in the mid-80s
The Prime Minister has been dealing with the issue for decades, since his tenure as Israel’s ambassador to the UN.
In recent months, many actions have been taken to locate them, by both Lebanon and Israel, including operations on the ground. In light of this significant activity, it was decided to release five Lebanese citizens who were arrested in the territories under IDF control in southern Lebanon. After their investigation was completed, it was determined that they are citizens who are not members of a terrorist organization, were not involved in terrorism, and there is no reason for their continued detention in Israel.
