The chairman of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, MK Boaz Bismuth, spoke yesterday (Tuesday) with U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee. During their conversation, the two connected Operation “Lion’s Roar” with the days of the Book of Esther, against the backdrop of the Purim holiday.
The conversation concluded on a symbolic note, as their conversation ended the very moment another siren warning of incoming missiles was sounding in Israel.
Unmistakable Divine Intervention
The first time the phrase “the finger of God” appears in Scripture is in the Book of Exodus, when Pharaoh’s magicians, unable to replicate the plague of lice, are forced to admit, “It is the finger of God” (Exodus 8:15). It was a moment of reluctant recognition, when the hardened opponents of the Israelites were forced to concede that what they were witnessing could not be explained by human power alone.
Since then, the expression signifies unmistakable divine intervention, God’s direct and sovereign action within history. In invoking that same phrase, MK Bismuth and Ambassador Huckabee suggested that the unfolding events of Operation “Lion’s Roar,” particularly in the days of Purim, bear the marks of that same providential hand, clear evidence that history is once again being shaped by more than human strategy alone.
Purim and the War
Last week, Ambassador Huckabee shared a video of his dogs dressing up for Purim, and wished a happy holiday to all Jews celebrating.

Now, he took a more serious approach to the significance of the holiday, in light of the recent joint American-Israeli operation against the dangerous regime in Iran.
“The attack in Iran is like reliving the days of Mordechai and Esther. We are witnessing the miracle before our very eyes,” the American Ambassador told Bismuth, underscoring the symbolism of the Purim season. Huckabee added that the very timing of the events lends them an almost biblical dimension.

“Israel is in the midst of a process in which a new Middle East is being built, one that will also influence the global order,” Bismuth replied.
He added that this is a historic moment that will reshape reality for generations. “As people of faith, we can say that God’s finger has touched Trump and Netanyahu,” Bismuth continued, describing the leaders as those acting out of a profound sense of mission, at a pivotal moment in history. “This is a tremendous event, truly tremendous.”

Two are Better than One
MK Bismuth thanked Ambassador Huckabee, the American people, and the U.S. administration for their friendship and steadfast support of Israel. He also expressed condolences to the families of the American soldiers who fell during the operation, noting that Israel deeply values both the sacrifice and the partnership between the two nations.
As wise King Solomon said :“Two are better than one, since they have good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his friend, but woe to the one who falls and has no second one to lift him up”. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)
