Warning: High Contamination in Northern Streams

The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Environmental Protection are warning that entering the waters of the Jordan, Hatzbani, Zaki, and other streams may be dangerous.

Tests conducted by inspectors from the Israel Nature and Parks Authority found bacteria concentrations exceeding the permitted level (400 fecal coliforms per 100 ml), which indicates water contamination. The Ministry of Environmental Protection noted that no known source of the contamination has been located.

The warning applies to entering the Hatzbani (in the area of the Mifgash HaNehalim Promenade), the Jordan River from Yosef Bridge to Arik Bridge, the Meshushim Pool, the Jilabun Stream, the Zaki, the Tzalmon Stream (in the Haruv Pool area), and the Kziv Stream (in the Ein Hardalit area). The ministries are continuing to monitor and sample the water and will provide an update when results return to normal.
