US-Israeli Initiative for Voluntary Gazan Migration Picks Up Speed
Israel’s Ministry of Defense has established a dedicated administrative body to oversee the voluntary migration of Gaza residents, while the Trump administration pressures Egypt to cooperate with the relocation initiative.
In a discussion held today (Monday) by Defense Minister Israel Katz on the voluntary departure of Gaza residents, it was decided that a dedicated administrative body will be established within the Ministry of Defense to oversee the process. The administration is expected to include representatives from various government ministries and security agencies.
During the meeting, a preliminary plan was presented by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), outlining extensive assistance for Gazan residents wishing to emigrate voluntarily to a third country. The proposed framework includes special departure arrangements via sea, air, and land routes.
Trump Pushes Forward with Gaza Evacuation Plan
Meanwhile, the Trump administration has reportedly intensified pressure on Egypt’s military establishment, signaling potential disruptions to U.S. military aid should Cairo continue opposing the American president’s initiative.
According to a report last week in Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, the U.S. Department of Defense has privately hinted at possible consequences for Egypt’s continued resistance to the plan. High-ranking American officials have reportedly warned Egyptian military decision-makers that crucial military aid, weapons supplies, and essential maintenance provided by the U.S. could be jeopardized if Cairo refuses to cooperate with the proposed relocation initiative.
