Serious Espionage Case: Two Ashkelon Residents Arrested, Charged with Missions for Iranian Intelligence
In a joint operation by YAHBAL Lahav 433 and the Shin Bet, Ashkelon residents Tarmilan Amushkov and Alina Kushnirko were arrested in July 2026 on suspicion of maintaining contact with an Iranian agent and carrying out espionage missions for him in exchange for payment in digital currencies.
The investigation revealed that the two photographed sensitive targets at the direction of their handler, including the Eilat port, and the museum and cemetery on Mount Herzl, after purchasing an advanced cell phone in Eilat for the missions. Today, an indictment was filed against them in the Tel Aviv District Court.
The police and the Shin Bet are again warning the public about recruitment attempts by hostile elements on social media.
