Mosquitoes Infected With West Nile Virus Found in Several Locations
Following the capture of mosquitoes infected with West Nile virus in Petah Tikva, Kafr Qasim, Kafr Bara, Ben Gurion Airport, and the Brenner and Central Arava Regional Councils, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Environmental Protection are calling on local authorities to immediately expand pest control and monitoring operations.
Since the beginning of the season, 17 people have been diagnosed with the disease, and one of them has died. The authorities are emphasizing the importance of drying up sources of standing water in homes and public spaces, and are reminding the public to report any mosquito hazards to the 106 hotline to prevent the spread of the virus.
