Central Israel Attack
Officials identified Master Sgt. (res.) Haim Kalomiti, 55, as the man killed in Sunday morning’s terrorist attack in central Israel.
Kalomiti lived in Tzur Natan and served as a reservist soldier in the Ephraim Regional Brigade. He served as a regional defense soldier, helping protect Israeli communities in and around the area.
The attack unfolded across several locations in the Sharon region. First, terrorists opened fire near a gas station by Kochav Yair. Then, the attack continued near Tzur Yitzhak and Route 5533, close to Tzur Natan.
Kalomiti was killed, and the terrorists wounded several others. As the attack developed, police, military, and rescue forces rushed to the area.
A Reservist Defending His Home
Kalomiti was not only a resident of the region. He also helped defend it.
Regional defense soldiers are reservists who help protect their own communities. Kalomiti stood in the line of defense for the place he called home.
When terror reached the roads and entrances of Israeli communities, Kalomiti represented the quiet courage of Israel’s defense system.
Alongside Kalomiti, terrorists severely wounded the security coordinator of Tzur Natan, according to the military. In addition, rescue teams evacuated other victims for medical treatment.
Terror Against Daily Life
This attack did not happen on a distant battlefield. Instead, it struck ordinary places: a McDonalds, a gas station, roads, and community entrances.

That is the nature of the terrorists who seek to destroy Israel. They target daily life. They try to turn routine movement, work, travel, and community into scenes of fear.
However, the story of Haim Kalomiti also shows the other side of Israel.
Israeli civilians, reservists, medics, police, soldiers, and local security teams stand ready to protect life. They defend their homes because Jewish life in the land of Israel must be protected.
Kalomiti was a husband, father, neighbor, and soldier in reserve service.
He helped defend his community. Ultimately, he paid with his life.
May his memory be a blessing, and may the wounded have a full and speedy recovery.
