Britain Sentences Palestine Action Activists Over Elbit Raid

Good news from Britain: A court sentenced four Palestine Action activists to prison terms totaling more than 20 years after a violent raid on an Elbit Systems factory in Bristol.

The attack took place in 2024, about ten months after the start of the Swords of Iron War. According to reports, the activists caused heavy damage to the Israeli defense company’s site. The damage reached more than £1 million and included special military drone equipment, information systems, and computers.

Insurance companies have already paid about £1.2 million to cover the destruction.

Terrorism Connection

The judge imposed harsher sentences after ruling that the incident had a “terrorism connection.” However, the defense argued that the activists only wanted “to destroy weapons” in order to stop the fighting in Gaza. They also argued that the defendants had not been formally charged with terrorism offenses.

The defendants were members of Palestine Action, whose activity has been banned in Britain. The four were acquitted of aggravated burglary. However, they were convicted on serious charges of criminal damage and assault.

The case matters far beyond one factory. Elbit Systems is an Israeli defense company, and attacks on its facilities have become part of a wider campaign against Israel’s right to defend itself. For Israel and its allies, including the United States, that matters. Israeli defense technology helps protect soldiers, borders, civilians, and democratic societies facing terror threats.

Violent Anti-Israel Activism

The heaviest sentence went to 23-year-old Samuel Corner. He will serve seven years and eight months in prison. Corner was convicted of criminal damage and causing serious bodily harm after he attacked a police officer with a heavy hammer.

The judge rejected defense claims about mitigating circumstances. He ruled that Corner used extreme and unjustified force, and that his autism did not explain or justify swinging the hammer.

Two other activists, 30-year-old Charlotte Head and 30-year-old Leona Camio, were convicted of criminal damage. Each received five years in prison. The fourth defendant, 21-year-old Fatima Zainab Rajwani, received four years and eight months for her role in the destruction.

In addition, the judge imposed another penalty on all four. After their prison terms, they will spend another year under restrictive and supervised release conditions.

Ultimately, the ruling draws a clear line. Protest is one thing. Violent attacks on Israeli-linked defense sites are another. In Britain, the court treated this as a serious criminal act, not political theater.
