Firearm License Eligibility Expanded
Israel’s National Security Committee has approved a measure to expand firearm license eligibility to more service members and first responders, an amendment proposed by Minister Itamar Ben Gvir.
The National Security Committee has approved expanded eligibility for firearm licenses for SHAHAM police officers, career prison guards, soldiers on mission-oriented service tracks, academic officers, and Fire and Rescue Service personnel.
The amendment, submitted by Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, also includes new regulations for keeping souvenir weapons and air rifles. Minister Ben Gvir clarified that the goal is to allow more law-abiding and qualified citizens to carry weapons to increase security and deterrence.
