Mike Huckabee, the newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Israel, is expected to land in the country today (Thursday) and submit his letter of credentials to President Isaac Herzog at the beginning of next week. Even before formally assuming his duties, Huckabee stated that his first destination in Israel would be the Kotel (Western Wall), where he plans to offer a personal prayer upon arrival.
A Clear Appointment of a Pro-Israel Ally
Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas and a former U.S. presidential candidate, is a well-known figure in Republican politics and is regarded as a staunch supporter of Israel. His appointment was confirmed by the U.S. Senate last month with a vote of 53–46, backed by every Republican senator and just one Democrat—John Fetterman.
Over 100 Visits to Israel – And Unwavering Support for Judea and Samaria
A deeply committed Evangelical Christian with strong conservative views, Huckabee has been an outspoken supporter of Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria. Over the years, he has made more than 100 visits to Israel, consistently voicing his unconditional support for Israel’s right to defend itself.
Sources close to the ambassador say that his deep familiarity with the Israeli landscape—politically, culturally, and spiritually—will make him a particularly effective envoy, especially amid ongoing security and economic tensions, including discussions regarding mutual tariff removals.
