Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in Washington last night (Sunday) for a crucial diplomatic visit. His agenda includes negotiating the next phase of the hostage deal with Hamas, addressing the Iranian nuclear threat, and exploring normalization with Saudi Arabia. This will be the president’s first meeting with a foreign leader since the start of his second term.
Upon landing at Andrews Air Force Base, Netanyahu was welcomed by the new U.S. Ambassador, Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon, and Consul Ofir Akunis. He will be hosted at Blair House, the White House’s official guest residence, as he prepares for high-level discussions with American officials.
Just as biblical leaders sought wisdom and strengthened alliances through diplomacy, so too does the Trump-Netanyahu meeting reflect the importance of strategic partnerships for Israel’s future. When leaders meet face to face, there is an increased understanding and respect, as seen when the Queen of Sheba came to meet King Solomon to witness his wisdom and leadership firsthand. “She said to the king, ‘The report I heard in my own country about your achievements and your wisdom is true. But I did not believe these things until I came and saw with my own eyes.’” – 1 Kings 10:6-7
Wise leadership attracts respect and alliances, and diplomacy can lead to prosperity. Just as Solomon’s wisdom solidified Israel’s standing among the nations, so too does Netanyahu’s visit reaffirm Israel’s enduring friendship with the United States. His meeting with Trump represents a crucial step in strengthening security, advancing Israel’s strategic objectives, and ensuring regional stability.

A central focus of Netanyahu’s visit is securing the release of the remaining Israeli hostages still held by Hamas. On Tuesday night (Israel time), he will meet with President Trump at the White House to discuss strategies for ensuring the safe return of all captives. Trump has reaffirmed his commitment to standing with Israel and using American influence to pressure Hamas into full compliance with the agreement.
Before his meeting with Trump, Netanyahu will sit down with Steve Witkoff, Trump’s Middle East envoy, who has played a key role in negotiations with Hamas and regional mediators. Later in the week, Witkoff is scheduled to meet with Egyptian and Qatari officials, who have been instrumental in facilitating talks between Israel and Hamas.

During the negotiations, two primary issues are expected to take center stage. The first is establishing a framework for the second phase of the hostage deal, ensuring that all remaining captives held by Hamas are safely returned to Israel. The second issue is extending the first phase of the agreement, which could allow for additional hostage releases in exchange for a continued ceasefire and the release of Palestinian prisoners. Israeli officials remain cautious, emphasizing that any deal must prioritize Israel’s security and long-term stability.
Beyond his discussions with President Donald Trump, Netanyahu will also engage with key American leaders. He is scheduled to meet with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, senior members of Congress and the Senate, and prominent evangelical representatives, highlighting the deep and enduring alliance between Israel and its strongest supporters in the U.S. A significant meeting will take place with Mike Huckabee, the newly designated U.S. Ambassador to Israel, further reinforcing Trump’s pro-Israel policies and commitment to advancing peace in the region.
