Israel Demands Accountability for Hamas’ Breach of Hostage Agreement
The IDF stated Hamas failed to uphold hostage agreement terms and will block movement back into northern Gaza until resolved. As reports suggest American citizens may be released next week, Hagari expressed “deep concerns” over the well-being of the Bibas family.

In a deeply emotional day for Israel, four female IDF observers were released from Hamas captivity on Saturday as part of the initial phase of a ceasefire agreement. Yet, celebrations were tempered by frustration as Israeli officials revealed that Hamas violated the agreement, which required civilian hostages to be released first. Among those still held is Arbel Yehud, whose anticipated release did not occur, prompting the Israeli government to take a firm stance.
Netanyahu: No Movement North Until Arbel is Released
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office issued a statement condemning Hamas’s breach of the agreement, reaffirming Israel’s commitment to ensuring all hostages are freed. “Israel received four female soldiers from the hands of the Hamas terror organization and will release security prisoners according to the terms of the agreement,” the statement read. “However, in line with the agreement, Israel will not permit Gazan movement northward until Arbel Yehud’s release is resolved.”
This decision came after Netanyahu met with top security officials and finalized the course of action during a situational assessment on Saturday. The Prime Minister’s Office emphasized that delaying the announcement was necessary to avoid jeopardizing the release of the four observers.

Hamas: “Arbel Yehud Is Alive and Will Be Released Next Saturday”
Gal Hirsch, Israel’s hostages and missing persons coordinator, has been in continuous contact with Arbel Yehud’s family. Reports from Saudi Al-Hadath indicate that Israel is demanding Hamas ensure her release within two days. According to Al Jazeera, a senior Hamas official claimed that Yehud is alive and will be released next Saturday. Islamic Jihad operatives are reportedly holding her, though Israeli officials refute claims that Hamas lacks the ability to compel their cooperation since the participation of Islamic Jihad operatives in the show of force held at Palestine Square today in Gaza proves the two groups are working in coordination.
Hamas has falsely accused Yehud of being a soldier involved in Israel’s space program—an unfounded claim designed to justify her delayed release. This rhetoric is part of Hamas’s broader strategy to manipulate narratives while breaching agreements.
IDF Spokesperson: Arbel Yehud and the Bibas Family Must Be Released
IDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Daniel Hagari addressed the media following the return of the four observers, reiterating Israel’s commitment to securing the release of all hostages. “We are committed to the return of Arbel Yehud and Agam Berger, who remain in captivity,” he said. Hagari criticized Hamas for failing to prioritize civilian hostages, stating, “Hamas has not fulfilled its obligation to release civilians first. We insist that Arbel Yehud and the Bibas family return swiftly. We are gravely concerned about their fate and demand clarity about this.”
The plight of Kfir Bibas, an infant kidnapped with his family during Hamas’s October 7 massacre, has become a symbol of Hamas’s inhumanity. Vigils held across Israel continue to demand the return of Kfir and his family.

Hope for American-Israeli Hostages
While Israel presses for civilian hostages to be prioritized, the United States is also increasing pressure on Hamas to release American citizens. A senior U.S. official revealed to NBC that 65-year-old hostage Keith Sigal is expected to be released next Saturday as part of the third phase of the agreement. There is also speculation about the release of 35-year-old Sagiv Dekel Hen, though Israeli sources have not confirmed these reports.
Faith and Determination Amid Adversity
Israel’s firm response to Hamas’s violations reflects a commitment to justice and the safety of its people. Prime Minister Netanyahu’s decision to restrict Gazan movement northward underscores Israel’s resolve to hold Hamas accountable and ensure that no agreements are manipulated.
The words of Proverbs 21:15 resonate deeply in these trying times: “When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.” Israel’s unwavering demand for the return of hostages embodies the biblical call to pursue justice and protect the innocent.
As the nation celebrates the return of four brave women, it also lifts prayers for those still in captivity. The government’s actions demonstrate a firm belief that God is with those who defend righteousness and truth.
