Celebrating Courage and Friendship in Israel’s Knesset
Geert Wilders, leader of the majority party in the Dutch coalition and a vocal ally of Israel, was presented with the prestigious Ze’ev Jabotinsky Freedom, Friendship, and Support for Israel Prize. The ceremony, held in the Knesset, highlighted his consistent backing of Israel, especially during the tumultuous period following the Hamas attacks on October 7. Wilders has been a vocal critic of global anti-Israel sentiment and a staunch defender of Israel’s right to security.
The event was attended by Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana, Ministers Amichai Shikli and Gila Gamliel, Yossi Dagan, Head of the Shomron Regional Council, and other dignitaries.
“This is the Time to Support Israel”
During his speech, Wilders passionately affirmed his solidarity with Israel:
“This is not the time to be silent; this is the time to support Israel. After October 7, the world was in deep shock, but unfortunately, only for a short time. Too many countries, politicians, and institutions like the UN and the International Criminal Court (ICC) began to attack Israel and its citizens.
You deserve our full support in your war against the forces of terror—Hamas, Jihad, Hezbollah, and Iran. As I’ve always said, if Israel falls to the forces of evil, the West will be next. You are a beacon of patriotism and courage, and for that, I owe you my gratitude.”
Wilders concluded his speech in Hebrew, declaring, “Am Yisrael Chai” (The people of Israel live).
A Friend of Israel Receives Praise from Leaders
Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana praised Wilders for his bravery and commitment to Israel’s security:
“This award is a fitting tribute to a man who exemplifies the courage and determination of Jabotinsky. Geert has been a relentless supporter of our right to live securely and defend ourselves, standing firmly against the antisemitic violence spreading across Europe.”
Yossi Dagan, Head of the Shomron Council, with whom Wilders toured the seam line shortly before the event, also delivered a few words: “I thank a true friend and true partner of the State of Israel, Geert Wilders. Your support is an important reminder of our unity, and of the deep solidarity, we are together… After October 7 we know better than ever, it is our duty to stand together against the common enemy. Europe and Israel must fight together, only together will we win! I told my colleagues in the European Parliament, Can a Jew be an occupier in Judea? This war is about justice, about the Truth. If we work together, we will win.”
Standing with Israel’s Allies
Geert Wilders’ recognition underscores the vital alliance between Israel and its international friends. His message serves as a reminder of the shared spiritual and moral commitment to stand with the Jewish state against forces of terror and antisemitism, while so many political leaders are not upholding this commitment as they have in the past.
As Wilders boldly declared, “The world must not remain silent. This is the time to support Israel.”
