The Israeli Foreign Ministry is dynamically upgrading its capabilities to combat anti-Israel propaganda and quickly extinguish so-called “diplomatic fires”. Today (Tuesday), Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar inaugurated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ new communications situation room, which will continuously monitor leading news channels and media outlets around the world with the aim of providing immediate responses to anti-Israel content. The initiative is part of the Foreign Minister’s broader policy strategy – shifting Israel’s approach from defense to offense, and utilizing strong and ongoing communications with the dominant media organizations worldwide in order to influence international awareness in favor of Israel.

The Operational Strategy of the Situation Room

The innovative new communications situation room constantly monitors about 250 media channels across the globe, receiving around 10,000 reports about Israel daily – an average of seven reports per minute. The central goal is to identify false reports and respond to them quickly, either through an official response or by strongly assisting pro-Israel spokespeople to refute false accusations and present the Israeli narrative.

The situation room is staffed by diplomats and students specializing in international communications, and has already started operating in recent weeks. Within its first few weeks of operation, the situation room achieved significant success, notably in the case of the manipulative BBC documentary featuring the son of a senior Hamas official. The BBC was forced to remove the film from broadcast and issue an apology, and a criminal investigation is now underway against the BBC for transferring funds to Hamas in relation to the film’s production.

The launch of the new situation room marks a significant shift in Israel’s approach to diplomacy, taking a more proactive stance against global anti-Israel narratives. With this powerful tool, Israel aims to swiftly address misinformation, counter antisemitism, lies and slander, and help shape international perceptions in its favor.
