Kfar Tal Attack Probe: Soldiers Prevented Major Disaster, Scene Management Failures Found
The Chief of Staff praised Yuval Ezra and Binyahu Malat for their engagement and ordered the immediate implementation of the investigation’s lessons.
Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir received the findings of the investigation into the shooting attack in Kfar Tal, in which Maj. Yuval Ezra and Capt. (res.) Binyahu Malat fell. The investigation highlights the courage of the two, who charged the terrorists and prevented more severe harm to hikers, as well as the swift arrest of those involved at a hospital in Nablus. Alongside the heroism, the investigation points to operational and command failures, including the forces’ arrival while outnumbered, a delay in Malat’s evacuation from the area, and the fact that the hike took place without prior coordination.
