After IDF soldier Naveh Havshush HY”D fell overnight in Lebanon, his father urged Israelis to keep living, traveling, and holding fast to life in the Land

Naveh Havshush HY”D, an IDF soldier who fell overnight in Lebanon after a drone strike, leaves behind a family message filled with grief, strength, and love for the Land of Israel.

In the early hours of the morning, IDF officers came to notify the family. Soon after, Naveh’s father shared the news with friends.

“Dear friends, IDF officers came to notify us tonight of the most bitter news of all. Naveh, our sweet and dear son, was killed tonight in Lebanon.”

The Tanakh commands: “Choose life, so that you and your children may live” (Deuteronomy 30:19). That verse gives language to the message Naveh’s father shared. Even in unbearable loss, he asked Israelis to keep living.

A Father’s Request

“We would be very happy to see everyone continue going on trips and try to keep their routine as much as possible,” his father wrote.

Then he explained why.

“This is what our Naveh was killed for. So that we can continue living in this land. Safely, joyfully, and peacefully. Love you all.”

Those words do not call Israel to forget. Instead, they call the nation to remember correctly. For Israeli families, normal life does not show weakness. It shows the purpose for which soldiers stand guard.

Life In The Land

Naveh’s death came amid continued fighting in southern Lebanon. Israeli forces have faced Hezbollah attacks there, including drone threats.

According to reports, a Hezbollah drone attack killed several IDF soldiers overnight in the same area.

For Israel, the northern front is not distant. It is the line between terror and the ordinary life Naveh’s father described: families hiking, children going to school, communities returning home, and Jews living freely in their land.

Israel’s American allies understand that value as well. Free nations do not fight because they love war. They fight so their people can live safely, worship freely, and raise families without terror at their door.

A Nation That Keeps Going

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly said Israel must retain the freedom to defend itself. Moments like this show why that principle matters.

Ultimately, Naveh Havshush’s father gave Israel a painful command of love: keep going.

To continue living in this land safely, joyfully, and peacefully does not escape grief. It answers it.

May his memory be a blessing.
